Montel Harris returns to action for BC

NEWTON, Mass. -- Boston College got a boost Saturday when preseason ACC Player of the Year Montel Harris played for the first time this season.

The senior running back had missed the first three weeks while rehabbing from an arthroscopic procedure to repair the meniscus in his left knee in training camp. After a Hampton Hughes interception on the first play from scrimmage, the Eagles used 11 plays to move 47 yards for a touchdown. Harris converted a fourth-and-1 to keep the drive alive in the red zone.

Chase Rettig hit Lars Anderson in the back of the end zone for a 1-yard score on the drive as BC took a 7-0 lead on UMass.

Harris finished BC's 45-17 rout with nine carries for 27 yards.

Without Harris so far this season, the Eagles had averaged just 80.7 yards rushing and 13 points a game.
