Willis among headliners at track event

The New Balance Indoor Grand Prix will be held this Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletics Center. This is the 16th year the event has been held, although it has a new name this year.

The event began back in 1996 and has featured more than 100 Olympic and World Championship medalists and has played host to six World Records, nine American Records and 19 other national records.

The 16th-annual meet, the second stop in USA Track & Field's Visa Championship Series, begins at 5:00 p.m. on Feb. 5. It will air on ESPN2 on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. ET.

Some highlights of this year's event:

-- Olympic silver medalist Nick Willis from New Zealand and Leo Manzano, a 3-time NCAA Champion at the University of Texas will compete in the mile. Manzano finished 2010 as the fastest outdoor miler in the US with his mark of 3:50.64. Also in the field is the nation's top high school miler from 2010, Lukas Verzbicas.

-- Mo Farah, the British Olympic Association's track and field athlete of 2010, is set to come compete. Farah, the reigning European Champion at 5000m and 10,000m, will be among the favored runners in the 3000m. Three-time NCAA Champion Sam Chelanga will also compete in the 3000m.

-- Bershawn "Batman" Jackson, world No. 1 at 400m hurdles in 2010, won the 400m at this event in 2010, and will compete in the 600m this year.

-- Sheila Reid, who led Villanova to an NCAA Championship team title last November will compete in the mile. She will face fellow Canadian and Villanova alum, Carmen Hussar and previously announced World Indoor Champion Kalkidan Gezahegne from Ethiopia.
