The decade in pictures

Pedro Martinez

The Red Sox didn't make the playoffs the first three years of the decade, but they did have the great Pedro Martinez. He's pictured here in 2000, when he turned in one of the most dominating campaigns in pitching history. He went 18-6 with a 1.74 ERA, with 284 strikeouts in 217 innings, and allowed opponents a .167 batting average. (Photo: Jeff Zelevansky/AFP/Getty Images)
