Pats' Aaron Hernandez inactive

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Despite practicing twice this week, New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was inactive for Sunday's 31-21 win against the Denver Broncos.

Hernandez returned to practice on Thursday after missing two weeks with an ankle injury. He was listed as questionable.

Tight end Rob Gronkowski, who was also listed as questionable, was active for the game. He was added to the injury report on Sept. 28 with a hip injury, and missed Wednesday's practice.

Gronkowski sat a series in each half during last Sunday's win over the Buffalo Bills, and could be playing in pain.

The Patriots had only Gronkowski and Fells active at tight end, with Michael Hoomanawanui (concussion) also inactive on Sunday.

Rookie linebacker Dont'a Hightower (hamstring) was inactive, after being limited all week in practice. Receiver Julian Edelman (hand) and safety Steve Gregory (hip) were previously ruled out for the game.
