Rich Peverley 'needs a few more days'

BOSTON -- Bruins forward Rich Peverley was not in the lineup Monday night against the New York Islanders as he continues to battle what the team is calling a minor undisclosed injury.

Peverley has missed the last few practices but he did play against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.

"He needs a few more days," coach Claude Julien said before the Bruins beat the Isles 6-2. "He played the last game but it's not getting better, so we're going to allow him to take a few more days."

With Peverley out, Benoit Pouliot was in the lineup against the Islanders. He scored Boston's first goal of the game. In 12 games this season, Peverley has three goals and four assists for seven points, along with a minus-1 rating. Pouliot had not registered a point in eight games and held a minus-3 rating.

Pouliot skated on the left side during the team's morning skate on Monday at TD Garden along with center Chris Kelly and right winger Jordan Caron.
