President Obama to honor Bruins

The Stanley Cup champion Bruins, who brought the Cup back to Boston for the first time in 39 years by beating the Vancouver Canucks last June, will be honored by President Obama at the White House on Jan. 23, the team announced.

The Bruins play the Capitals in Washington the following night.

During the ceremonies, Obama will highlight the Boston Bruins Foundation, which has raised and donated more than $7 million to various charitable organizations in the six New England states.
