Yandle wore a jersey with "Martin Richard" printed across the back of it during warm-ups before Phoenix's 3-2 shootout win at the United Center against the Chicago Blackhawks. Richard was standing near the finish line with his family when he was killed by a detonated bomb. Richard's mother and sister were also injured in the explosion.
"There's nothing I can say or do, just wanted to show my support, show the family I'm thinking of them, praying for them and everybody back home we love them," Yandle told Fox Sports Arizona on the ice before the game.
Yandle also paid tribute to his hometown earlier in the week when he wrote "Pray For Boston" on his skate and glove when the Coyotes played the San Jose Sharks on Monday.
The Coyotes' victory ended a three-game losing streak and kept the team's fading playoff hopes alive.
