A purse bid was ordered on Tuesday for the mandatory rematch between secondary middleweight titlist Hassan N'Dam and Ryota Murata (12-1, 9 KOs), a 2012 Japanese Olympic gold medalist. On May 20, in Tokyo, N'Dam (36-2, 21 KOs), 33, of France, was awarded a scandalous split decision victory for the vacant belt in a fight virtually everyone thought Murata, 31, won easily. It is one of the most controversial decisions in recent years and the WBA immediately ordered a rematch. If the sides do not come to an agreement the purse bid is scheduled for July 7 at WBA headquarters in Panama City, Panama. N'Dam would get 75 percent of the winning bid with Murata receiving 25 percent. The minimum bid is $200,000.

Lightweight world titlist Terry Flanagan (33-0, 13 KOs) and mandatory challenger Felix Verdejo (23-0, 15 KOs) are penciled in to fight Sept. 16 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England, Flanagan's hometown, if the deal is finalized. Carl Moretti, vice president of Verdejo promoter Top Rank, told ESPN on Tuesday that the company is in the process of working out the deal with Frank Warren, Flanagan's promoter. Flanagan, 28, has made five title defenses and is coming off a lopsided unanimous decision victory against rugged contender Peter Petrov on April 8, also in Manchester. Verdejo, 24, a 2012 Puerto Rican Olympian, is coming off a lopsided 10-round decision against Oliver Flores on Feb. 3. The fight was Verdejo's first since he crashed his dirt bike and spent five days in the hospital last summer with an assortment of cuts, bruises and scrapes. The injuries sidelined him for the second half of 2016 and delayed what was supposed to be a fall fight with Flanagan.

Middleweight Antoine Douglas (21-1-1, 15 KOs) will shoot for his third win in a row since his upset 10th-round knockout loss to Avtandil Khurtsidze in March 2016 when he faces Bruno Sandoval (19-2-1, 15 KOs), 26, of Mexico, in a 10-rounder on July 14 at Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma, Vito Mielnicki of GH3 Promotions announced on Monday. The fight will take place on the untelevised undercard of Showtime's "ShoBox" card headlined by junior welterweight Ivan Baranchyk taking on Keenan Smith. Douglas, 24, of Burke, Virginia, was a fast-rising contender when he was dominated by Khurtsidze. "I know a little about Sandoval," Douglas said. "I know he is tall and has a good record. I am just going with the flow, and taking one bout at a time. I am ready to get back to where I was, and I am on the road to being on top." With a victory, Mielnicki said he hopes to make a significant fight for Douglas in the fall.

The World Boxing Super Series cruiserweight tournament, already loaded, will be even stronger as two more top fighters are poised to be announced as being part of the eight-man field. Former cruiserweight titlist Krzysztof Glowacki (27-1, 17 KOs), who stopped Hizni Altunkaya on Saturday in Poland, has already signed for the tournament, a source with knowledge of the deal told ESPN on Monday. Also, the source said that although the deal is not yet finalized it "looks pretty good" that titleholder Oleksandr Usyk (12-0, 10 KOs) will also join the field. The cruiserweight field already boasts world titleholders Murat Gassiev (24-0, 17 KOs), Mairis Briedis (22-0, 18 KOs) and Yunier Dorticos (21-0, 2 KOs) as well as former titleholder Krzysztof Wlodarczyk (53-3-1, 37 KOs). The super middleweight tournament field only has titlist George Groves (26-3, 19 KOs) and needs to be filled out. The draw for each single-elimination tournament, due to begin this fall, will take place on July 8 in Monte Carlo with the top four seeds (which are to be determined) in each field selecting their quarterfinal opponent from the remaining unseeded fighters.
