The gate numbers for the Canelo Alvarez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight are in. According to the Nevada State Athletic Commission, Alvarez's shutout decision over Chavez in their bout at a catch weight of 164.5 pounds on May 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas generated $10,631,850 in ticket sales. That is the 20th-biggest gate in Nevada boxing history, placing it just behind the 1996 heavyweight title rematch between Mike Tyson and Frank Bruno, which generated $10,673,700 from 16,143 tickets sold to the MGM Grand Garden Arena, and just ahead of the 2007 welterweight title fight between Floyd Mayweather and Ricky Hatton, which generated $10,393,950 from 15,488 tickets sold, also at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. For Alvarez-Chavez there were 17,143 tickets sold, 1,203 tickets for premium suites, 494 for the Hyde Lounge, 1,250 complimentary tickets given away and 420 credentials issues for a total attendance of 20,501, the T-Mobile record for any event.

No firm time frame on when Floyd Mayweather might sign his side for a boxing match against Conor McGregor, but there's been optimism on McGregor's side throughout this entire process he will do so. It's a lucrative fight Mayweather has made no secret he wants. As far as a date, nothing confirmed at this time, as Canelo Alvarez vs. Gennady Golovkin has been booked to the first choice of Sept. 16. But a date within a month's timeframe of that initial target is most likely as of now, August-October.

The site for the highly anticipated Canelo Alvarez-Gennady Golovkin middleweight world championship fight on Sept. 16 on HBO PPV is probably a few weeks away from being settled, Golden Boy Promotions president Eric Gomez told ESPN on Monday. He said there are a number of sites from around the world that have been calling to inquire about hosting the fight. Some of the sites that have shown interest include AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and Madison Square Garden in New York. Gomez said that Golden Boy CEO Oscar De La Hoya will be talking to and meeting with executives from various sites over the next couple of weeks before they decide on the venue for the fight, which looms as the biggest in boxing.

If there is going to be a rematch between unified heavyweight titlist Anthony Joshua and former champion Wladimir Klitschko the wheels are in motion for both of Joshua's belts to be at stake. Following his knockout of Klitschko in the 11th round of their epic fight on April 29, in which Joshua retained the IBF belt and won the vacant WBA "super" title, Joshua's next fight was supposed to be an IBF mandatory defense against Kubrat Pulev. However, with Klitschko having the contractual right to an immediate rematch – an option he has not yet exercised but one most expect he will – it looked as though there was a good chance that Joshua would have to vacate the IBF title or that he would be stripped for not facing Pulev. However, this past Thursday, Joshua promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing filed for an exception to the mandatory defense, the IBF told ESPN on Monday. The IBF said it is awaiting a reply from Pulev promoter Team Sauerland for its position. The IBF said it will then consider Joshua's request for the exception next week at its annual convention in St. Petersburg, Florida.
