Five keys for Argenis Mendez

Junior lightweight titlist Argenis Mendez will headline 2014's season opener of ESPN "Friday Night Fights" when he defends his belt against Rances Barthelemy.

Mendez (21-2-1, 11 KOs), from the Dominican Republic, won the title last March against Juan Carlos Salgado by fourth-round knockout and defended the belt in a majority draw against Arash Usmanee eight months later.

Cuba's Barthelemy (19-0 , 12 KOs), who fights out of Miami, is looking for his first world title when he steps in the ring at the Target Center in Minneapolis.
