"Hammerin" Hank Lundy, who accepted Friday's fight with 2014 Boxcino lightweight tournament winner Petr Petrov less than two weeks ago, forced the bout to be canceled Thursday when he missed weight by 4 pounds.
Lundy weighed in at 139 pounds, 4 over the lightweight limit, while Petrov easily made weight at 133½ pounds.
The evenly matched bout was due to open this week's "Friday Night Fights" (ESPN2, 9 ET) card at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York.
Lundy was coming off a split-decision loss to Thomas Dulorme on HBO on Dec. 6 in an entertaining junior welterweight bout. However, Lundy has often fought at lightweight and accepted the fight with Petrov at the lower weight.
Instead of Petrov (35-4-2, 17 KOs) taking on Lundy (25-4-1, 12 KOs), the new opener will be a middleweight bout between Brandon Adams (14-1, 9 KOs) and Lekan Byfield (6-6-2, 1 KO). Adams will be fighting for the first time since losing a decision to Willie Monroe Jr. in the final of the 2014 Boxcino middleweight tournament last May.
The main event features Monroe (18-1, 6 KOs), in his first appearance since winning the 2014 Boxcino middleweight tournament against Adams. Monroe will face Bryan Vera (23-8, 14 KOs). Monroe and Vera each weighed 160 pounds at Thursday's weigh-in.
