Heavyweights Travis Kauffman, Gerald Washington, Michael Hunter slated for June card

A trio of heavyweights aiming for another big opportunity -- Travis Kauffman, Gerald Washington and Michael Hunter -- will all be in action in scheduled 10-round bouts June 10 on a Premier Boxing Champions tripleheader, Tom Brown of TGB Promotions announced Thursday.

The card will take place at the Pioneer Event Center in Lancaster, California, and air on Fox Sports 1 and Fox Deportes beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET.

"It's an interesting time in the heavyweight division and all the winners on this card will figure into the picture in a prominent way in the future," Brown said.

Kauffman (31-2, 23 KOs), 32, of Reading, Pennsylvania, will take on Scott Alexander (14-2-2, 8 KOs), 29, of Los Angeles in the main event. Kauffman, idle since dropping a majority decision to Amir Mansour in March 2017, was initially supposed to face former light heavyweight world champion Antonio Tarver on the card, but Tarver is suspended in New Jersey and was unable to get a license.

"I am excited to get back in the ring," Kauffman said. "I have not been in the ring in a year-and-a-half and I can't wait to go in there and show that I still have a lot left. I am not going in there to win by decision. I am going in there looking to knock him out, because I am tired of leaving it up to the judges."

Alexander will facing his most significant opponent and said he didn't hesitate to accept the bout when the Tarver fight could not be finalized.

"I've been working hard preparing for a fight at the end of June so I jumped at this opportunity," Alexander said. "I'm always ready to step into the ring and take on any and all challenges. I'm ready to make my mark. My time is now."

Washington (18-2-1, 12 KOs), 36, a former USC football player from Vallejo, California, will face Wes Nofire (20-1, 16 KOs), 32, of Miami. Washington is aiming to rebound from being stopped in his last two fights, in the fifth round challenging world titleholder Deontay Wilder in February 2017 and in the eighth round by contender Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller in July.

Hunter (13-1, 8 KOs), 29, a 2012 U.S. Olympian from Las Vegas, will face Iago Kiladze (26-2, 18 KOs), 32, a native of the Republic of Georgia fighting out of Los Angeles, in a battle of former cruiserweights.

In April 2017, Hunter lost a spirited decision challenging cruiserweight world titleholder Oleksandr Usyk and then moved up to heavyweight, where he beat Terrell Woods by decision in his last fight on April 21.

Kiladze was riding a six-fight winning streak going into a Jan. 20 fight with Adam Kownacki on the Errol Spence Jr.-Lamont Peterson undercard at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and was stopped in the sixth round of an all-out slugfest.
