Pier-Olivier Cote's defense in flux

MONTREAL -- Pier-Olivier Cote's defense of his IBF Intercontinental light welterweight title against American Mauricio Herrera has been postponed because the Quebec City fighter is sick.

Promoter Jean Bedard said talks would be held with Showtime on a new date for the match. He said they didn't want to take a chance of letting Cote fight after he missed training time because of the illness.

Cote (18-0) won the vacant title with a second-round knockout of Jorge Luis Teron in November.
