Fernando Guerrero hurt, out of fight

Middleweight prospect Fernando Guerrero of Salisbury, Md., suffered a partially torn left biceps in training camp, forcing him to withdraw on Tuesday from a fight against Chris Fitzpatrick of Cleveland scheduled for Friday night, Golden Boy Promotions announced.

Guerrero (23-1, 18 KOs), a native of the Dominican Republic, was to meet Fitzpatrick in a scheduled 10-round bout on Showtime's "ShoBox: The New Generation" card at the Beau Rivage Resort and Casino in Biloxi, Miss.

The fight was due to open a tripleheader telecast (11 p.m. ET/PT). Showtime announced it would reduce the card to two televised bouts.

In the main event, former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor (29-4-1, 18 KOs) will continue his comeback with his second fight, after a nearly two-year layoff because of a head injury. He will face Caleb Truax (18-0-1, 10 KOs) in a scheduled 10-round fight.

Also, former Cuban amateur star Erislandy Lara (15-1-1, 10 KOs) will meet former middleweight title challenger Ronald Hearns (26-2, 20 KOs), the son of International Boxing Hall of Famer Thomas Hearns, in a scheduled 10-rounder. It's Lara's first bout since losing a majority decision to Paul Williams in July, in one of the most controversial decisions of 2011.
