Five keys for Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

After losing his undefeated status to middleweight champion Sergio Martinez last September and serving a subsequent suspension for using marijuana, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-1-1 , 32 KOs) returns to the ring Saturday to face Brian Vera (23-6-0, 14 KOs) at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.

Originally contracted for 168 pounds, the fight will be contested at a catch weight of 173 pounds due to Chavez's issues making weight. The fight also offers Chavez a chance at vindication after not only suffering his first defeat, but the full-year absence from the ring that followed.

Here are five keys to victory for Chavez against Vera:

Throw punches in bunches

If you can't find him, call him

Discipline pays off

Don't underestimate the power
