Best known for scoring a string of upsets and for his time on the "The Contender" reality series, Brian Vera returns to the ring Saturday in a big opportunity against Mexico's Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif.
Vera (23-6, 14 KOs) enters the bout, which is contested at a catch weight of 173 pounds, coming off a streak of four consecutive victories. The native of Texas has a great opportunity to raise his profile with an upset of Chavez, similarly to what he did in the past against Andy Lee, Sergio Mora and Sergiy Dzinziruk.
Here are five keys to victory for Vera against Chavez:
In and out
Make him run
Jab well done
Think about the future
