Yao Ming
If there were any lingering doubts about Yao Ming, they were erased when he blocked Shaquille O'Neal's first three shots in their January 17 matchup and then led the Rockets to an OT victory. He's not Hakeem Olajuwon yet ... but he's on his way.

Amare Stoudemire
Since replacing the injured Tom Gugliotta in the lineup on Nov. 23, Stoudemire has been on fire. He has provided a much-needed inside physical presence and, with Stephon Marbury and Shawn Marion, he rounds out one of the trios most fun to watch in the Association.

Carlos Boozer
Boozer has been one of the few bright spots on the Cavaliers, providing a consistent presence inside and exceeding his second-round draft-pick expectations. He recently registered back-to-back-to-back double-doubles and has helped take some of the pressure of first-round pick Dajuan Wagner.

Drew Gooden
Gooden is trying to make it two in a row for the Grizzlies, with teammate Pau Gasol claiming the ROY title last season. As part of one of the youngest teams in the league, Gooden has received ample playing time and is the team's second leading scorer.

Caron Butler
Coach Pat Riley's defense-first philosophy has been no problem for Butler, who is leading all rookies with 1.67 steals per game. He's been holding his own down low and finding ways to score. His 13.7 ppg is second only to Eddie Jones.
