Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and coach Jimmie Johnson were teammates on the 1964 Arkansas national championship team, which also had Barry Switzer as an assistant. Lance Alworth, a 6-foot flanker out of Arkansas, became the first AFL player in the Hall of Fame after 542 receptions, 10,266 yards and 85 touchdowns with the Chargers and Cowboys. The late Chiefs owner Lamar Hunt was born in El Dorado.

The "Hog Call" echoes through many great moments, including the 1969 Game of the Century loss to Texas and the 1964 national title under coach Frank Broyles.
