Cubs wouldn't be denied on Monday

The Cubs rallied from a three-run deficit to force extras and a one-run deficit in the 13th to beat the Pirates. It's just the second time in the last 32 seasons that the Cubs won a game after trailing in the ninth inning and in extra innings, the Elias Sports Bureau notes.

Stats & Info

Monday's longest home runs

Yoenis Cespedes left no doubt about his walk-off homer, blasting one 435 feet to lead the way on Monday. Randal Grichuk, Kole Calhoun and a couple of Cubs round out the list.

Saw John Lackey headed out of the clubhouse to throw a side session during pregame access, but no word on how it went as Cubs manager Joe Maddon hadn't spoken to him before meeting with the media. We'll update that after the game. Suspicion here is that he "got after it".
