Pending action in other games Travis Wood's 64th appearance of the season is tied for the MLB lead with three other players though his innings pitched ranks 68th among relievers. He's the one pitcher manager Joe Maddon needs to watch closely as the Cubs head towards the playoffs.

Follow up to Zobrist sac bunt batting cleanup: It's the first attempt in the first inning by a cleanup hitter this year. (ESPN Stats and Info)

Cubs cleanup hitter Ben Zobrist just sac bunted with 2 on, 1 run in and no outs in the first inning against the Dodgers Urias. It was a curious move as the Cubs were off to a good start but Zobrist has done this at least once before -- w 2 strikes no less -- when he claimed he wasn't seeing the ball well. Maybe that was the case again here though it didn't work out as both runners were left stranded after the bunt.
