The Cubs beat the Reds, 9-3, scoring all their runs in the first four innings. Kyle Schwarber and Tommy La Stella both went deep while Jason Heyward had two run scoring singles as the Cubs have pounded out 23 hits in the first two games of the series. Mike Montgomery pitched 6 scoreless innings though Hector Rondon struggled in the ninth giving up 3 solo home runs.
