Mitchell Trubisky points out that while he only started 13 career games at North Carolina, he appeared in 30 games. Trubisky downplays the notion that his lack of starting experience will be a negative at the NFL level.

Mitchell Trubisky on the Bears' bombshell move to grab him at No. 2: "I didn't see that coming at all....I haven't had a whole lot of contact with them." Trubisky did have a workout with Chicago around the time of his Pro Day, but not much else.

Trubisky ready to get to work with Bears (0:29)

KC Joyner ESPN Insider

Mitchell Trubisky has elite accuracy, superb mobility, a photographic memory and great intangibles. Those are the types of traits worth trading up for.

Mike Sando ESPN Senior Writer

Mitch Trubisky to Chicago should let him ease into the role. That could be good for Trubisky after starting only 13 games. Did the Bears "overdraft" him at No. 2? Sure, we could say that, but let's face it, no one knows how good Trubisky will be. The Bears are finally doing what should have been done in past years: investing in the QB position. They will never "hit" on a QB without adding QBs.

The Bears' selection of Mitchell Trubisky with the second pick in the draft might explain why the Browns considered him so strongly at one. If the Browns knew the Bears were interested, they also knew they'd have to take him first to get him.

It's worth noting Dolphins QB and former No. 8 overall pick Ryan Tannehill was questioned a lot coming out of the 2012 draft for having just 19 college starts. New Bears QB and No. 2 overall pick Mitch Trubisky has only 13 college starts.

Bears trade up to draft Trubisky (0:33)

Kevin Seifert NFL Nation

The 49ers' massive return on moving down one spot in the NFL draft suggests there was a huge bidding war for that pick. The only way the Bears give up that much is if multiple teams – probably including the Browns – were also bidding.

The Bears gave up 2017 third- and fourth-round round picks this year and a third in 2018 to get draft QB Mitchell Trubisky. My guess is that GM Ryan Pace had intel that there was another team (likely Cleveland) making calls about moving up.

NFL

Matt Bowen ESPN Staff Writer

Mitchell Trubisky has all the tools to develop as as a No.1 QB in the NFL. Good size, arm strength and the movement skills to get outside of the pocket in the pros. Interesting move by the Bears to trade up here, but they now land a QB to truly develop with Mike Glennon expected to head into the season as the starter.

ESPN Stats and Information

There's no doubting Mitchell Trubisky's efficiency. He threw 30 touchdowns against six interceptions last season, and actually had a higher completion percentage against the blitz than overall.

First stunner of the draft: Mitchell Trubisky to Chicago with the second overall pick. One league insider told me today: "He's a second-round pick at best that needs a lot of development."

Todd McShay ESPN Senior Writer

The Bears gave up a lot to move up one spot, but I think it's a smart move to get QB Mitchell Trubisky, For any other position, I would've said this deal is crazy, but now the Bears can now let Trubisky develop properly (he has just 13 career starts) behind Mike Glennon, Chicago may have just landed its starting QB for the next decade.
