Joe Maddon made sure to praise home plate umpire and crew chief Jeff Nelson on Wednesday calling him one of the best in the game. But Maddon believes MLB should review the rule which led to Jason Heyward being called out at first base for interference, apparently for veering onto the grass and interfering with a throw. It got dicey in the ninth but the Cubs held on to beat the Giants 5-4 after Wade Davis gave up a 2-run HR in the ninth inning, his first earned runs given up this season. It took him 34 pitches to get through the inning as an insurance run in the eighth was the difference. Jason Heyward scored after tripling to open the inning. Anthony Rizzo was the hitting star as he homered twice and was on base 4 times.

Wade Davis just gave up his first earned runs of the season on his 12th pitch to Mac Williamson of the Giants who homered to right field. Davis hasn't pitched in a week and gave up a single before Williamson went deep to right.
