The roof at Chase Field might have been imperiled by this towering shot by White Sox 1B Jose Abreu on Tuesday night off D-backs reliever Jorge De La Rosa in the eighth inning. It was Abreu's ninth home run of the season and fourth in his last nine games.

Joe Maddon described Kyle Schwarber's 460 ft home run onto Sheffield ave on Tuesday in Star Trek terms: "The Enterprise would fly by the screen and get really small. It (the ball) had that Enterprise-esque look to it. It was there and then it was gone."

Watch Kyle Schwarber discuss his 460 ft home run in the Cubs 4-1 win over the Giants on Tuesday.

The Cubs beat the Giants 4-1 behind Jon Lester's complete game, the first of the season for the team -- and first since he shutout the Giants last Sept. Lester was aided by 3 home runs including a 460 ft shot by Kyle Schwarber in the first inning. Anthony Rizzo and Jason Heyward also homered but Lester was the story. He gave up 4 hits and struck out 10 batters including 2 in the final inning. He was fantastic in a game that lasted just 2:05.

ESPN Stats and Information

Cubs LF Kyle Schwarber has hit 28 home runs in his young major league career, regular season and postseason. His first-inning blast on Tuesday night off a 3-2 pitch by the Giants' Johnny Cueto traveled the farthest, clearing Wrigley Field's right-field bleachers.

After yet another opponent was caught stealing tonight Jon Lester will undoubtedly move up the ranks among qualified pitchers as only 6 of 14 base runners this season have been successful off him. Thanks to catcher Willson Contreras, that caught stealing pct (57 percent) ranked Lester seventh in the NL and that was before Eduardo Nunez of the Giants was thrown out in the 5th inning.
