Ben Zobrist said he's going on the 10 day DL to take care of a back injury. It's not serious but he's been out the last few days anyway and the Cubs can make it retroactive so Zobrist can return after the team's current road trip. They'll call someone up from Triple-A for Saturday's game but the move hasn't been announced by the team yet.

Are shorter baseball seasons on the horizon? If so, players will have to give something to get something. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred on Friday called Anthony Rizzo "realistic" after the Cubs first baseman said he'd be willing to take a pay cut in return for fewer games. "I think that Anthony's comments were realistic in the sense that ... if, in fact, you're going to go to 154 games or some lower number of games, that players would have to be participants in that process," Manfred said. "They're gonna work less, they're probably gonna make less."
