The Cubs finally had a starting pitcher make it into the 7th inning this season, becoming the last team in baseball to accomplish that feat. Tyler Chatwood was pulled after 6+ so technically they still haven't had a pitcher throw more than 6 innings but at least he got there. Cubs starters have averaged 5 innings per start this season before Tuesday's game against the Indians.
Marco Gonzales and four relievers combined on a five-hitter, Mitch Haniger singled home the only run and the Seattle Mariners edged the Chicago White Sox 1-0 Tuesday.
Kyle Schwarber likes Cleveland. He made his ML debut here in 2015 and famously helped the Cubs win the World Series in 2016 after returning from a season long knee injury. He's gone deep twice tonight in the Cubs return to this park for the first time since Game 7. His first home run had en exit velocity of 117.1, the fastest for a Cubs since Statcast began tracking and the fifth highest in baseball this season. His second home run was a towering shot out to right. Schwarber has never had a 3 home run game. His batting average after the long balls is now .317.

The Chicago White Sox have placed outfielder Avisail Garcia on the 10-day disabled list because of a strained right hamstring.
The White Sox have placed RF Avisail Garcia on the DL because of the hamstring injury he suffered when trying to beat out a grounder during Monday's game. In his place, Chicago has called up OF/1B Daniel Palka from Triple-A Charlotte. Palka, 26, was a waiver claim from the Twins last fall who will be making his big league debut. In any event, White Sox fans will probably look at his name and read it as "Not Eloy Jimenez." But the lefty-hitting Palka was off to a good start for Charlotte, so we'll see what he can do in The Show.
From the rain-delay speech to ending the curse, memories will be everywhere as the Cubs return to the scene of Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.

Jose Abreu had four hits that included a pair of home runs, Yoan Moncada was a single shy of the cycle and the Chicago White Sox beat the Seattle Mariners 10-4 Monday to end a seven-game losing streak.

The White Sox were outscored 27-2 during a three-game series this weekend against the Astros. Tonight in the first game of a three-game set against the Mariners, Chicago already has three runs on the board with one out in the first. Think the Sox were happy to see Houston leave town?
One of the teams that ailing White Sox pitcher Danny Farquhar used to play for — the Seattle Mariners — begin a series tonight in Chicago against Farquhar's White Sox. This Farquhar/Mariners Jersey is hanging in Seattle's dugout at Guaranteed Rate Field.
