Danks was injured while pitching in Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals and was put on the 15-day disabled list a day later. It is the first DL stint in Danks' nine-year professional career.
While pitchers' DL stints for oblique injuries typically last more than a month, the White Sox are confident Danks can return on time. He is eligible to come off the DL on July 11, which is the first day of the All-Star break.
That will give the left-hander even more time to recover, especially if he isn't needed to join the rotation until the second series of the first half, July 18-20 at Kansas City. He is likely to need at least one minor league rehab start.
Danks started the season 0-8, but was 3-0 with a 1.14 ERA over his next four starts, counting his 1 2/3 innings Saturday.
