Matt Lindstrom placed on DL

With a dislocated tendon in his right ankle, closer Matt Lindstrom became the latest Chicago White Sox player to hit the disabled list, and right-hander Javy Guerra had his contract purchased Tuesday from Triple-A Charlotte.

Lindstrom was injured Monday night when coming off the mound to field a bunt in the ninth inning against the Kansas City Royals. The 34-year-old right-hander is 2-1 with a 3.32 ERA and has six saves in 19 appearances.

He becomes the eighth White Sox player to land on the DL since the season started. In addition, Gordon Beckham was already injured when the season started. Chris Sale, Felipe Paulino, Avisail Garcia, Jose Abreu and Nate Jones all remain on the DL, while Beckham, Adam Eaton and Conor Gillaspie have returned to action.

Guerra was claimed off waivers from the Los Angeles Dodgers toward the end of spring training. He was 1-1 with a 2.33 ERA and three saves in 14 appearances at Charlotte.

The 28-year-old Guerra has some closing experience, saving 29 games over three seasons with the Dodgers, including 21 saves in 23 chances as a rookie in 2011.
