Alex Rios exits with foot injury

CLEVELAND -- The Chicago White Sox's bad luck with injuries continued Tuesday as trade candidate Alex Rios was removed from the final game before the non-waiver trade deadline with a foot injury.

Rios fouled a ball off his left foot during an eighth-inning at-bat against the Cleveland Indians and left the game after he was visited by manager Robin Ventura and trainer Herm Schneider.

"It was very sore right after I hit it. When I stride and stepped to swing at the next pitch, it was really sore when I turned my foot," Rios said. "But I don't think there's anything major or even if I'm going to miss any time. I'm going to get some X-rays now and it should be OK, hopefully."

The Pittsburgh Pirates recently had been showing the most trade interest in Rios, who knows that injuries are common in a long season.

"I see this as part of the game and it's not a major injury," Rios said. "So I should be fine and ready to go in a few days or maybe tomorrow even."
