Bulls waive James; sign Kurz

The Chicago Bulls waived center Jerome James on Friday and signed Notre Dame product Rob Kurz from the Ft. Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League.

James was acquired on Feb. 19, 2009 in a four-player trade with the New York Knicks. He never played a game with the Bulls as he dealt with a ruptured right Achilles he suffered during the 2008-09 season.

The 6-9, 230-pound Kurz, 25, averaged 17.5 points and 10.1 rebounds for the Mad Ants. Kurz played in 40 games with the Golden State Warriors during the 2008-09 season, averaging 3.9 points and 2.0 boards.
