Northwestern senior quarterback Dan Persa practiced on Monday and will play against Michigan on Saturday, according to Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald.
Persa left Saturday's game against Illinois in the fourth quarter after feeling pain in his right foot. It was Persa's first game back since rupturing his Achilles tendon last season.
"Dan worked out today and was great," Fitzgerald said during his news conference on Monday. "We expect him to be great on Saturday."
Fitzgerald decided for to keep Persa from returning to Saturday's game for precautionary reasons.
"We have to be smart," Fitzgerald said. "We have to error on the side of being smart. It's a marathon, not a sprint."
Persa was 11-of-15 passing for 137 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the game.
