Buehrle, Lilly tabbed for All-Star Game

Left-handed starting pitchers Ted Lilly and Mark Buehrle are the sole representatives of the Cubs and White Sox, respectively, in the 2009 MLB All-Star Game.

Lilly earned his second All-Star appearance with a 7-6 record and a 3.35 ERA for the Cubs entering Sunday's start against Milwaukee. Buehrle's 8-2 record with a 3.09 ERA earned him his fourth All-Star appearance.

Buehrle and Lilly each have 16 starts entering Sunday's play. Each pitcher has gone at least six innings in all but two of those outings.

The Cubs and White Sox also each have a player who could warrant consideration for the final spot on the squads, voted by the fans. Cubs first baseman Derrek Lee entered Sunday's play hitting .281 with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs. White Sox right fielder Jermaine Dye was hitting .291 with 19 homers and 50 RBIs entering Sunday.
