CHICAGO (AP) -- Gov. Pat Quinn plans to declare Mark Buehrle Day in Illinois to honor the White Sox pitcher's perfect game.
Quinn will be at U.S. Cellular Field on Thursday to honor Buehrle, who threw a perfect game last week against the Tampa Bay Rays. It was only the 18th perfect game in major league history.
A Sox fan, Quinn has already ideas for Buehrle's post-baseball career when that time comes.
Quinn says Buehrle should consider running for a spot in the Illinois Legislature because he's the kind of modest, hardworking, team player the state needs.
