LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears are bringing back linebacker Rod Wilson to fill the void created by putting Hunter Hillenmeyer on the injured list, according to a league source.
Wilson played in 28 games with the Bears in 2006 and '07 after being drafted in the seventh round in 2005.
He will be the back-up middle linebacker behind Brian Urlacher.
Wilson played in eight games with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season, and he was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the preseason in August.
Hillenmeyer was put on injured reserve after suffering a concussion in the third preseason game.
