Campbell, seen meeting President Obama on Friday in a walking boot, is nursing a left foot injury. He played just seven minutes in Sunday's game against the Washington Capitals before sitting out the final 2 1/2 periods.
John Scott played in his place.
Dave Bolland missed his second consecutive game after leaving last Wednesday's contest against the Tampa Bay Lightning with a head injury. Quenneville said there has been no change in Bolland's status and it's unknown when he will return to the ice.
The Hawks hosted the Sharks after a week-long trip against Eastern Conference foes. They had lost three in a row after winning the previous eight. The first game back at home after a road trip is sometimes thought of as a dangerous game for the home team.
"I find there is a difference between Eastern trips and Western trips, and we're not going to use that as an excuse at all," Quenneville said before the game. "No, we're ready to play."
