Troy Brouwer undergoes surgery

The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday that winger Troy Brouwer underwent a surgical procedure on a right shoulder tear earlier in the week.

Brouwer missed a check on April 5 in Montreal and injured his shoulder when he slammed into the boards. He missed the next three games before returning for the playoffs.

"Troy Brouwer underwent surgery on Tuesday to repair a right shoulder labral tear which had been symptomatic intermittently throughout the season," Blackhawks head team physician Dr. Michael Terry said in a statement. "The surgery went very well and we anticipate a full recovery."

Brouwer, who will be a restricted free agent with an uncertain future in Chicago, had an uneven season with 17 goals and 19 assists.
