Stan Bowman a fan of Theo Epstein

CHICAGO -- Count Chicago Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman as one person who would like to meet new Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein.

The Hawks invited Epstein to Tuesday's game against the Anaheim Ducks, and while Epstein -- who had a press conference at Wrigley Field on Tuesday -- couldn't attend, the Hawks are hopeful he can attend in the near future.

"I haven't had a chance to meet Theo yet but I'm looking forward to that actually," Bowman said Tuesday morning. "He seems like a really bright guy, and I think I could probably learn some things from him."

Bowman won a championship in Chicago in 2010, breaking a 49-year drought for the Hawks. The Cubs are working on over a century without bringing home a title.

"Fortunate for him, he's come from a big market," Bowman said. "I'm sure he had a lot of scrutiny there. I think the one thing in Chicago, in the media and the fans, is they are passionate about sports.

"The one thing I've realized, it's not that way everywhere, so that is something that's unique. He knows that coming from Boston. It's something that makes it exciting to be a part of in Chicago. The fans here are passionate, but that's a good thing."
