Engelland checked Kruger into the boards in the first period of the Penguins' 3-2 win Tuesday, appearing to have left his feet while making contact with Kruger's head.
There was no penalty called on the play, and Kruger left the game after finishing the first period.
Engelland had a hearing by phone with the league Thursday morning.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, he will forfeit $9,189.18 in salary, with the money going to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
Engelland will miss Friday's game at Winnipeg; Tuesday against Carolina; and Dec. 29 against Philadelphia. He will be eligible to return Dec. 31 at New Jersey.
