He helped Canton Bulldogs and the Cleveland Bulldogs win NFL titles before joining the Bears in 1925 and helping them win the championship in 1933. The defensive tackle is credited with developing the pre-snap shifting strategy employed by defensive linemen today. He was a two-time first-team All-Pro and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1964.
