The Bulls had finished 27-55 in the 1983-84 season, earning them the No. 3 pick. Jordan immediately made an impact by leading the Bulls to a 38-44 record and a postseason berth for the first time since 1981. He started in the 1985 All-Star Game and set a franchise rookie record with 49 points against the Pistons. He averaged 28.2 points, which was third in the league, en route to winning the Rookie of the Year award.
