![]() Murphy Murph merged his love of sports and radio in high school at Lyons Twp. H.S. in LaGrange, where he played on the school's baseball team and was the first DJ on the school's brand new radio station (WLTL-FM). He did this while attending as many Cubs games as he could so he could sit with his buddies, the "Original Left Field Bleacher Bums". Murph attended Southern Illinois University for four years, and quickly realized his playing days were over. He decided that he better concentrate on radio at WIDB-AM. Back in Chicago, it was Murph's goal to be the "Voice of the Fan", with a "Fans Talking to Fans " style. He has done that now on Chicago airwaves for almost 20 years at WLS, WSCR and now ESPN 1000. ![]() Huebner Fred hosted a weekend sports talk show on WMAQ in 1988 before the station went to its All-News format. In 1992, Fred joined WSCR as a part-time producer. He quickly added sports updates and reporting to his list of responsibilities. Fred became co-host/sidekick for the Mike Murphy show on WSCR, which became the "Murph and Fred Show", after moving to morning drive. Fred was the television play-by-play voice of the Chicago Fire soccer team from 2007 through the 2009 season. Fred currently resides in Downers Grove with his wife, Patricia.
