Source: Hearing Friday for Cubs, Theriot

The Chicago Cubs and shortstop Ryan Theriot will have their arbitration hearing on Friday in St. Petersburg, Fla., according to a league source.

General manager Jim Hendry will leave on Thursday along with front-office executive Scott Nelson, president Crane Kenney and special counsel hired for arbitration Harry Zinn.

Theriot will have his agents, led by Dan Horowitz, at the hearing.

The procedure involves the two sides making their cases in front of three independent arbitrators, who will choose either Theriot's figure of $3.4 million or the Cubs' offer of $2.6 million.

After hearing the case, the arbitrators may take up to 24 hours to make their decision.
