Bobby Knight: The Rise And Fall
On Friday, Sept. 15 from 9 p.m. to midnight ESPN Classic will present Bobby Knight: The Rise and Fall. The lineup will feature:

  • 9 p.m. - SportsCenter Flashback: Bobby Knight
    Hosted by Trey Wingo, the show will chronicle Knight's success and pitfalls through the prism of SportsCenter coverage over the past two decades. The show will also feature narratives, fresh interviews, new reporting and analysis.

  • 10 p.m. - Classic Sports Reporters
    Bob Lipsyte, Edwin Pope and Dick Schaap examine Knight's headlines of the past. Hosted by Jeremy Schaap.

  • 10:30 p.m. - ESPN Classic Bobby Knight Conversations
    Features excerpts from all of Knight's appearances on ESPN's Sunday Conversation programs with Dick Vitale, Digger Phelps, Beano Cook and Roy Firestone.

  • 11 p.m. - Up Close Primetime Special (1997)
    Hosted by Roy Firestone.

    Saturday, Sept. 16
    ESPN Classic Michigan - Live noon-3:30
    Rich Eisen from Ann Arbor and Gary Miller from East Lansing host ESPN Classic Michigan - Live. From 12-3:30 p.m., Eisen and Miller will look back at some of the greatest college football and basketball match-ups between Michigan and Michigan State. The Classic Michigan lineup will continue throughout the weekend.

    1997 Stanley Cup Finals, Game 4: Philadelphia Flyers @ Detroit Red Wings
    Mike Vernon makes 26 saves and Darren McCarty scores the eventual game-winner in the second period as the Red Wings end the league's longest championship drought with a 2-1 win over the Flyers at Joe Louis Arena.

    Dan Marino Jersey Retirement Special - 2-8 p.m.
    ESPN Classic will present a special tribute to Dan Marino on Sept. 17 - the day the Miami Dolphins retire his jersey. ESPN's Mark Schwarz will host from 4-7 p.m. LIVE with interviews and commentary from Don Shula, John Offerdahl, A.J. Duhe, Butch Davis and Dwight Stephenson on the legendary QB.

  • 2 p.m. - 1982 Sugar Bowl: Pittsburgh Panthers vs. Georgia Bulldogs
    Dan Marino throws a 33-yard TD pass with 35 seconds remaining to lift the Panthers to victory. Throughout the game the lead changes hands five different times.

  • 4 p.m. - Buffalo Bills @ Miami Dolphins (1983)
    Dan Marino and Mark Duper make their first-ever starts for the Dolphins against the Bills. These two offenses explode for 971 total yards in an overtime battle.

  • 4:45 p.m. - Miami Dolphins @ St. Louis Cardinals (1984)
    Dan Marino passes for 429 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Dolphins to a 36-28 victory over the Cardinals.

  • 5:30 p.m. - 1984 Dolphins Yearbook
