Bret Michaels to host NASCAR race

Bret Michaels
Poison's Bret Michaels hosts the 1988 Goody's 500 on ESPN Classic on Saturday at 9 p.m. ET.
Bret Michaels, leading singer of the group Poison, hosts the 1988 Goody's 500 on ESPN Classic on Saturday, August 10th, at 9 p.m. ET. The legendary frontman will have Classic NASCAR trivia, a look back at 1988's biggest songs, and so much more.

Join Michaels for this thrilling race, which saw Darrell Waltrip edge out the likes of Alan Kulwicki, Dale Earnhardt, and Bill Elliott. Waltrip's victory was his ninth at Martinsville and second in as many Goody's 500s. Elliot went on to win the Winston Cup title that year.

Kulwicki came in second and Rusty Wallace, who set a track record in qualifying at Martinsville, finished third. Ken Schrader and Geoff Bodine rounded out the top five. Earnhardt took eighth. Ricky Rudd, who led four times for 237 laps, blew an engine in his Buick with 80 laps remaining.

Michaels is an avid ESPN and NASCAR fan. Derrike Cope currently races in a Poison-sponsored car on the NASCAR circuit.
