Former USC LB sues NCAA, Pac-12 for wages

A lawsuit against the NCAA and Pac-12 filed Monday alleges that ex-USC LB Lamar Dawson was "repeatedly paid a substandard wage insofar as he was denied full pay for all hours worked."

The NCAA's new "interpretation" of the definition of a helmet's crown is, in effect, a midseason rules change, since the crown had been so vaguely defined before. Now, officials should call targeting on any helmet-to-helmet hit initiated from any area above the top of the facemask to the top of the helmet.

Washington fan Roger Anderson's RV celebrates the Huskies many Rose Bowl berths. You might notice that it's been a while since he added a leaf to his rose (2001). Thus the hope of taking a step toward that tonight against Stanford.

Tonight's game may be a referendum on what kind of schedule to play in September. No. 7 Stanford has beaten three Power 5 teams -- Kansas State, USC and UCLA. No. 10 Washington has opened with Rutgers, Idaho, FCS Portland St., and Arizona. That foursome is a collective 3-8 against FBS opponents, 0-6 vs. Power 5 teams.

Pregame at Husky Stadium and it certainly is the best view from a press box that I've ever seen. Lake Washington to the right, UW's campus to the left.

The view from the Husky Stadium press box never gets old. Game time is less than 2 1/2 hours away.

ESPN has obtained Northern Illinois' presentation packet for leagues considering expansion. It highlights the football program's MAC-record eight consecutive bowl games and three league titles since 2011. There are charts comparing NIU with other MAC programs in on-field success, academic success, bowl TV ratings and local TV market size. NIU didn't make the first cut in the Big 12's expansion process but could be a candidate for the American Athletic Conference if the league loses members to the Big 12.

Stanford heads to Washington tonight in a game that could very well decide the Pac-12 North. Entering this game, the Cardinal and Huskies have a combined 94 percent chance to win the division, according to ESPN's Football Power Index. It doesn't take an advanced statistical projection to figure out that whoever wins this game will be in a great position going forward. FPI favors the Huskies (61 percent chance to win) at home.

Week 5 has been interesting for USC lately. Last year, SC lost to UW as a big home favorite and Steve Sarkisian was fired. Two years ago, ASU beat SC at the Coliseum on a Hail Mary and three years ago Lane Kiffin was fired after a blowout loss at ASU.
