Ever wonder what open in-season practice periods looked like at LSU? Honestly, me too. The Tigers' new interim coach Ed Orgeron offered a glimpse, opening 30 minutes of his first practice since replacing Les Miles to reporters. The last time LSU held an open practice during the season? That's up for debate, but it has apparently been at least a decade.

Florida State cornerback Marquez White said North Carolina QB Mitch Trubisky is the most accurate passer he'll likely face this season. He's completing 74.5 percent of his passes, which ranks second nationally.

Florida State's defense is struggling right now as it ranks 108th in points per game. The group is struggling against uptempo offenses, and they will play another Saturday against North Carolina. Coach Jimbo Fisher said the key is making a stop on first down to stunt the offensive rhythm.

Texas A&M leads the SEC in rushing through four weeks, averaging 269.3 yards per game and 7.04 yards per carry. Since joining the SEC, the Aggies are 28-1 in games they rush for 180 yards or more and they're 12-15 in games they rush for fewer than 180.

Louisville coach Bobby Petrino was asked about the LSU opening with Les Miles out during his weekly press conference Monday and reiterated his commitment to the Cards. "I'm not interested in going anywhere," Petrino said. "I'm very fortunate to be the head coach at the University of Louisville, very happy about that, very glad I have the support of our athletic director Tom Jurich. We feel like we've got everything going in the right direction. This is the job I want. This is where I'm going to be."

LSU quarterback Danny Etling said his face "has seen better days" after he lost his helmet and was then walloped by linebacker Tre Williams in Saturday night's 18-13 loss at Auburn. Etling's nose was bloodied and he had to have a cut above his left eye glued shut before returning to the game. Williams was ejected from the game after a replay review. "You should have seen my fourth-grade picture'" Etling said. "I was a nerd."

One of my favorite moments with Les Miles was this summer when we talked about racial issues consuming our country. I asked him what concern he had about how society saw his players once they left his locker room. He paused, looked me right in the eye, sighed and said "That's a great question." He looked down and I could feel how emotional that question made him because he hadn't really thought about it before and I could hear worry in his voice. "Good men look good men the same way and it's irrespective of who they are, it's irrespective of race, creed, color, religious preference. It's just good people recognize differences in our society, the pluralistic advantageous of our society and they give to that." He showed me how much empathy he had for his players and complete strangers. He truly hurt for them and with them. Earlier in the day he had this to say: "I feel like our society's the same and you need everybody. If you look to see change and if you watch the representation of our country on live TV, you realize that change is necessary. You need to be respectful of their life and their opinion and who they are. You need compassion for people."

Alabama DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, who was offered a scholarship by LSU, reacted to the news of Les Miles getting fired. "I was kind of upset because he's been there since I really followed LSU and since I've been been following college football. He's a great coach, and he's going to find somewhere else to go."

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said he's not had contact with LSU, which fired Les Miles yesterday. "I'm not talking about LSU," said Fisher, who was rumored as a target last season when Miles' status was in limbo. He said he thinks midseason firings put the integrity of the game in jeopardy, and that it's a product of too much focus on the playoff. "Are you saying the season is over if you can't get into the playoff?"

Alabama DB Tony Brown and DL Johnny Dwight will return from suspension this week against Kentucky. "They've done all the things that they needed to do," Nick Saban said. "We're very happy to have them back." Brown, a former five-star recruit, had 16 tackles, two pass break-ups and a forced fumble last year.

The ACC has four teams ranked in the Top 14, including two in the Top 5 -- helping boost the league's overall strength. At the end of last season, the league ranked No. 5 in the ESPN Stats & Information conference power rankings. Today, the league is No. 3 through four weeks, with only four points separating the Top 3.

Orgeron said he'll have someone in press box whose duties will solely focus on clock management and late-game scenarios. The Tigers lost 18-13 at Auburn on Saturday after their winning touchdown was disallowed because they snapped the ball after time expired. "We're going to work hard on it at practice. Hopefully, we can do a better job."

LSU athletics director Joe Alleva declined to answer a reporter's question about paying Les Miles a buyout of more than $10 million at a time when the university's budget is being drastically reduced by the state legislature. An LSU spokesman said Monday was "Orgeron's news conference."

Ed Orgeron promises to "flip the script" at LSU, making a series of small changes from the Les Miles era that he hopes will make a difference. Tweaking the offense is probably the biggest change. Another: "Less time on the practice field, more time in the meeting room," Orgeron said.

Mark Schlabach ESPN Senior Writer

Orgeron said he's learned a lot since he went 10-25 as Ole Miss' head coach from 2005-07. "I was full speed ahead," Orgeron said. "I was coaching the defensive line. I was coaching the receivers and quarterbacks, and I don't know anything about it. I wanted to do it my way." Orgeron said he will delegate a lot more responsibilities as LSU's interim coach. "There are some things I know how to do and some things I don't know how to do."

Alex Scarborough ESPN Staff Writer

Bobby Petrino was asked about his name coming up as a possible candidate at LSU and said, "I'm not interested in going anywhere. ... We feel like we have everything going in the right direction."
