Todd McShay Rutgers jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead, erasing any doubt of a letdown about not playing in a BCS game. Yamon Figures gave Kansas State fans a glimmer of hope with a 76-yard punt return in the second quarter, cutting the lead to 14-10. But it was all Rutgers from that point on. The Scarlet Knight offense was more balanced than usual. RB Ray Rice turned in a fitting finish to a remarkable sophomore campaign. He diced up the Wildcats defense for 170 yards and a touchdown on 24 carries. That was no surprise, but QB Mike Teel's performance was. The sophomore threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. It's also safe to say that freshman WR Tim Brown is a player to watch on the Rutgers' roster in 2007. Brown entered the game with four catches and equaled that production in the Texas Bowl with four catches for 101 yards and two touchdowns. The Scarlet Knight players rewarded their coach, Greg Schiano, for his loyalty by turning in one of their most complete performances of the season. In the meantime, Rutgers earned the first bowl victory in school history. -- Todd McShay
