The award, which began in 2014 and went to Oregon QB Marcus Mariota, recognizes the most outstanding Polynesian college football player that “epitomizes great ability and integrity.” Tagovailoa, who grew up in Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and is of Samoan descent, has led the top-ranked Crimson Tide to a 13-0 record and a spot in the CFP semifinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl. The sophomore has throw for 3,353 yards, 37 touchdowns and four interceptions this season.

North Carolina is hiring Ole Miss offensive coordinator Phil Longo for the same position, a source tells ESPN. The Athletic first reported the move, as Mack Brown now has both of his coordinators in place. Longo spent the past two seasons at Ole Miss, which now will be replacing both coordinators following a 5-7 season.

Former Tennessee and Houston quarterback Quinten Dormady is transferring to Central Michigan, he announced today on Twitter. Dormady appeared in only one game at Houston, attempting five passes, and redshirted the season after transferring from Tennessee in April. He started the first five games for Tennessee in 2017 before being replaced by Jarrett Guarantano. Dormady said he's 100 percent healthy and will have one year of eligibility for new CMU coach Jim McElwain in 2019.
