Doyt Perry
Bowling Green Athletics
Born just months after the university was founded, Perry played football at Bowling Green from 1929 to 1931 and also captained the basketball and baseball teams. But he left his mark as a coach, guiding the Falcons to five MAC titles and a small-college championship in 1959. After serving on Woody Hayes' staff at Ohio State, Perry took over a sputtering Bowling Green program in 1955 and went 77-11-5 in 10 years as coach. He then served as the school's athletic director from 1965 to 1970 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. Shortly after Perry's death in 1992, Bowling Green named its football stadium after him. -- Adam Rittenberg's Signature Quote

"Cut down on mistakes -- on penalties, fumbles, interceptions, blocked kicks or missed assignments. The game has never changed much; blocking and tackling have always been the main action." -- Doyt Perry
