Jones inherited an 18-game losing streak when he arrived at Hawaii in 1999, but it seemed as if things turned around the first moments after he donned his lei and signature Hawaiian shirt. When his surprising first season ended, the Warriors were 9-4 and the co-WAC champion, perhaps the most dramatic turnaround in Division I-A history. Also during his tenure, he survived a near-fatal car accident, became the school's all-time winningest coach and led the Warriors to an unbeaten regular season in 2007 and the program's first BCS bowl berth. -- Ted Miller
